OSM Zambia is a non-government not for profit organization that aims to detail map every area in Zambia with the community as the main mappers. The aims are to create an open, free to use map of the Zambia on OpensStreetMap. Zambia needs free, open and accessible spatial data shared beyond or within Government, private sector and non-government agencies.

The crowd-sourcing is facilitated by using the HOTOSM tasking manager tool, which is used to collaborate on remote mapping of areas by mappers who use OpenstreetMap. Data collection is done by different mapping tools to collect detailed ground information.

Variuous university students, community members and the sectors are trained on how to contribute and educate them the importance of GIS and mapping in their activities. This is all done to make Zambia have rich spatial data.
